Transparent Politics

Do you want to push through a citizen-oriented initiative in a community? Do you want to lead a political campaign? Do you want to implement an environmental project in Kenya?

Then take a look at what we have to offer:

Added Value for your Employees

  • Your employees will learn negotiation in a political context. They will learn how to assess their own role and impact in negotiation and how to uncover authentic strategies for navigating negotiation-situations.
  • Your employees will learn intercultural communication, namely, how to identify the forces behind cultural claims and allegations, and will have concrete criteria on hand to decide when cultural differences are just claims and when—if relevant—they need to be included.
  • Your employees will learn the instruments for action in the political-administrative context—from international covenants, administrative instructions, and forms of ‘soft law’ to ministry templates, background reports and policy papers—as well as how to distinguish among them. They will learn to understand the interplay between these formal and informal instruments. They will know these instruments’ different languages and codes, and will become able to apply them in context. Being able to formulate clear and transparent laws, for example, also belongs in this category.

Students at the School work on a unique political project that they bring with them from their own professional experience. Your employees will be given two years of support from our experts and coaches, who are proficiently versed in the subject matter relevant to the political project your employee chooses. Your employees benefit, therefore, not only from the direct and pertinent know-how of our over 50 instructors, but also from the careful, academic consideration given to framing the project-question in such as way so as exactly to address the needs of your organisation.

  • Your employee can participate in select opportunities for further training in our area of Executive Education.
  • Your employee will be invited to all of the important events for further training that take place in our house, and will thus receive additional expertise on the international level.

Nothing is more valuable to an organisation than employees that want to change the world, and are able to do so in practice. For an employee, nothing is more valuable than an employer that best facilitates your ability to do so.

A HUMBOLDT-VIADRINA Project: Improving BMJ’s (German Federal Ministry of Justice’s) Legislative Process

Goal: To represent laws more efficiently and to be able to change them more quickly, in order to reach faster and more legally intelligible decisions.

The Way: Through the use of a unique visualisation software tool, multi-layer decision trees can be made more understandable and displayed more clearly, through which both multi-layered relationships as well as lengthy decision-making processes can be mapped.
